    Its kind of irrational. I mean he didn't sign the bank guarantee, was not found guilty of corruption, has not done anything hugely wrong that I know of, a few misguided sound bites aside (Yes the Frankfurt one)

    Perhaps its because he is such a bad lier? Because of his contempt for the intelligence of the public? Because he makes grandiose statements like this knowing that he is a minor politician from a minor country and is so far outside the inner circle of Europe that whatever he says/thinks/does is meaningless. He's a bit like Michael McDowell without the charm
    http://www.irishexaminer.com/breakingnews/ireland/gilmore-no-change-to-eu-treaty-552705.html

    "The Tánaiste has given his absolute assurance that there will be no change to the text of the European fiscal treaty following growth talks at last night’s EU summit."

    Unless...unless he actually believes himself?

    like the PD's, and greens, who sold out their principles for a stint in power as FF's lapdogs

    they will fail next election... voters will remember

    Probably because you've spent too much time listening to other people's opinions rather than making up your own.

    Noonan is telling us now how Spain is arranging it's banks debts directly with the ECB. Without involving the Spanish citizen or taxpayer.

    Noonan still comes into the Dail and proudly proclaims ''we will pay our way''. The fact the Gilmore can get within feet of this b*stard and doesn't kill him is enough evidence for me to assume that Gilmore is a traitor just like FF/FG.

    They're all scum. Every one of them is in it for themselves, none of them actually have political views of their own. I'm not even joking, a randomly selected government which cycles every month would be better than what we have.

    Labour will be wiped out at the next GE.

    Be interesting to see how many of their ilk go into retirement like the cowards in FF did.

    Cause he's a pompous knob who failed to deliver on pre election promises.

    FF=FG
    Greens=Labour

    Different parties in name - same possible future ahead of them.

    he won't care about that - he's on the gravy train now (you can tell he's on it because he's getting fatter by the day). By the time the next election comes he will be able to saunter off into the twilight complete with massive pension and plenty of money, to live happily every after in whatever country he wants. We, on the other hand, will be stuck with the aftereffects of his and the rest of labours turnaround, backstabbing and lies.

    agreed - the most anemic, wan, unconvincing speaker I think I ever saw. Not one word out of his mouth would I believe, with his cone hands and nodding head to make his point. That must have taken a lot of practice in the mirror - still THE most unconvincing person ever to make a speech in Ireland.

    Because he lied to you when he said 'Labour is the party of jobs, equality and fairness'

    Agree with this. Labour's floating voters, and some of their core, will vote in droves for other parties. But no longer for the eFFers. It'll be the shinners and Joe's crowd.

    Because he's Eamon Gilmore;
    UCG Republican Club (Official Sinn Féin)
    Sinn Féin The Workers' Party
    The Workers' Party
    Democratic Left
    Labour Party

    Highly unlikely. It's a good bet that FG and lab will form a coalition in the next GE and FF will be elected in the following one. People are idiots.

    I liked him before he became Labour leader, then found him extremely unimpressive but gave him a chance for a bit as I felt it wasn't fair to compare him to his predecessor who is a pretty charismatic guy IMO - but no, Gilmore is just a weak presence. Met him - he didn't seem good with people at all.

    I don't think he's an absolute **** though - it seems like it's almost mandatory to say that about any politician who's in government.

    Because he and his party are liars?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 716 ✭✭✭phil1nj

    Is it because he is almost always apoplectic with rage whenever he speaks about any topic that may cross his path? Gets a bit annoying after a while IMHO.

    If you find Michael McDowell charming (:eek:), you shouldn't over-concern yourself too much about your opinions of anyone. ;)

    He's slightly more tolerable than that man with the bloated face and 5 chins, Pat Rabbitte. Still an arrogant champagne socialist though.
