Overflow leaking

    Looking for advice

A while ago I had a leaking overflow pipe so I replaced the ball cock which was in pretty poor condition. This solved the problem but not 1 year later my problem is back and my overflow is leaking again.
I checked out the ball cock and it's in perfect condition so surely it can't be the ball.

Anyone have any ideas if it could be something which I'd need to get in a plumber(how much do they charge these days)

Maybe you should of bent the arm of the ballcock slightly when installing it, this would usually be done by plumber when he installed the original one.

Other possibility is some grit/debris came in with the mains water and is preventing your ballcock from closing 100 percent fully in this case turning off the mains water and opening up the ballcock is an option.

Im assuming its a standard ballcock you installed , brass with ball float on the end?

Is your heating working? Granted you might not have it on!

Do you know if your heating is a closed or open system?

is there a second cistern in the attic, it would be much smaller than the main one and would also have an overflow, so there is a chance its ballcock isnt functioning correct(if you have this tank)

No there's just 1 in the attic

The mains could be pushing back up the hot at a mixer tap in the kitchen if you have one.

You can tie the ball cock up and drop the level in the tank and mark it. it will rise if this is happening.

It could be the coil in your cylinder. If there was a pinhole in the coil, the water from the big roof tank would try find its own level and overflow through the lower small tank?
