NCT - opinions on these issues

I have two cars due for NCT and have a number of issues between them which may need to be sorted before getting them tested. I have ranked them in order of likelihood that I think need attention in order to pass.

    1. Driver's seat belt frayed - most of belt width still intact.
    2. Undertray beneath engine was hanging down - have tied it up with wire.
    3. Rear wiper works only with a push! (motor probably on last legs).
    4. Driver's wing mirror cover missing (sideswiped by other car). Glass was replaced.
    5. One rear fog bulb not working.

Any thoughts on which of these definitely need attention?
    Thanks.

    These 2 for sure:
Rear wiper works only with a push!
One rear fog bulb not working.

I brought my car for NCT last Oct and my drivers seatbelt was frayed and a small hole in it but like yours the whole belt was still intact but they failed me on it, i had to buy a second hand one for €40 for the retest.

I don't believe they test rear wipers.

As for the seatbelt, there is little point in wearing it at all if it's frayed. It's down to the tester's discretion, probably, but it's still a safety issue that I would replace just in case. You never know when you might need it. I once cracked a Cortina windscreen with my head many years ago and it's not something I would like to repeat.

    They do if fitted iirc.

    1 wait and see.
    2 don't know.
3 they only check the front wipers are working.
4 could be a fail. Would only be a visual recheck.
    5 change the bulb.

From the nct manual in relation to wipers

    NOTES
    1. Washers will be considered as being fitted if there is any part of a washer system fitted.
    2. This test only applies to front windscreens.

The rear wiped has never worked on my car, the motor was gone when I bought it, I was worried in case it would fail, passed with flying colours your man never even checked it.

Most modern cars only have one working, it's on the drivers side. You will have a socket for a bulb the other side but this will be for left hand drive cars and will not work no matter what bulb goes in to it as it's disabled at time of manufacture.

    Undertray:

The under tray on my CMax was hanging down, couldn't find screws to fix it up properly (night before), so I tied it up with a bit of wire from an electric fence.
Passed, no problem, so should be grand.
