Found this sorry-looking specimen today..its a box with a hinged lid.

Anybody got an idea of its age and if its worth restoring?

The anthemion motive suggests Grecian revival - so probably first half of 19th century . Is it rosewood or oak

put up a better photo if you can

Hard to gauge size of the box - (which will help identify its function ! )

    Its certainly good looking :)

It looks like it might sit on a pedestal support.

Not too sure what it was originally for. Could be for letters ?

Could be nice polished up !

It'll need to be taken apart and put back together i reckon..the joints are all loose on it and its manky inside..looks like it was full of salt!

i'd say you're best bet is to learn how to take decent pics and how to resize/rotate them
