    Hi all ,
I was attempting to move a UPC tv point today and when i tried to snip what i thought was coaxial cable coming down from the attic i heard crackling and saw a tiny blue spark . This cable is white . I thought coaxial cable wasnt live so what is this cable ? Is it safe to finish the snip job or was it just static ? In the attic this cable seems to run off the black cable which i presume comes from the antenna on the roof . Any help would be great . Don't want to get blown up so the wife can watch desperate housewives in bed !

If you receive your UPC from the roof (MMDS) then the cable you snipped is possibly the power inserter. The MMDS receiver requires power to work, and this is 'inserted' to the coax with the PI unit that usually sits close to your STB.

You could plug it out and have a go at reconnecting the cables ONLY IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. It is electricity after all. Failing that you should be able to pick one up on the bay...

I would verge on the side of caution. If unsure get someone that knows. Don't risk your life. A little bit of knowledge can be a dangerous thing.

If you can put pup a photo showing the end of the cable. DO NOT TOUCH THE CABLE until you are 1000% sure it is safe.
