What New Shows are Worth Watching (2011-2012 Season)?

What new shows, that have so far only aired on season, are worth watching? I've enjoyed "Boss", "Once Upon a Time", "Homeland", and "Avatar: The Legend of Korra" so far but I know there's more. Note - only looking for first season shows, so no "Game of Thrones", etc.

Is "New Girl" any use? It seems to have a lot of nominations in some of the TV awards.
    What about "Grimm" ?
I know there's others too - hence the thread. Oh and don't bother mentioning reality shows...

'New Girl' is excellent... if only for both Max Greenfield (Schmidt) and Jake Johnson (Nick) who just get better and better with every episode that goes by. But it's got a decent supporting cast - Zooey's Jess is cute and is capable comedically, but still finding it difficult to warm to Winston (Lamorne Warris) but probably just due to the fact I prefered Damon Wayans Jr.

Other than that - 'Homeland' is the only other new show I can really recommend off the top of my head.

'Person Of Interest' is meant to be excellent.. so gonna watch that over the Summer.

On UK shows - 'Friday Night Dinner' started off mediocre but actually really warmed to it... EDIT: oh, and 'Fresh Meat' ain't bad either!

I think it's one of the worst years I have ever seen for new shows tbh, only picked up sitcoms this year, New Girl which really is very good and 2 Broke Girls which is also funnyish and entertaining enough. Also HBO's Girls which didn't start too long ago is weird but interesting. Yes a lot of shows with girls...

Oh and suits wasn't too bad either.

American Horror Story maybe? Its worth a watch. There is also The Secret Circle. You may enjoy it for the one season it ran. It has been canned. It was a somewhat enjoyable show, with the exception of some annoying teen angst type stuff.

Can't really speak about other shows like Awake, Touch, or a couple others that are on my to watch list.

New Girl is fantastic - if you like any of the following - Community, Parks & Rec, Happy Endings, Cougar Town, Raising Hope or Modern Family - you should definitely give it a whirl.

I also have really been enjoying Don't Trust the Bitch in Apt 23 - first season only 7 eps, but picked up for a full season 2 order. Again, if you enjoyed any of the aforementioned comedies, its worth a go.

Hm, maybe I should give that New Girl a chance. Hadn't seen anything on it, and probably wouldn't have followed too closely what it was about. Short of recommendations here, I guess.

yeah New Girl is definitely worth a go,

and Suburgatory, it kinda seemed to go under the radar, but its a fairly good show,

also Person of Interest had a great first season, its started off slow, i was gonna give up early on, but it just got stronger and stronger as the series went on, try and make a good go of it, its a procedural but there is a great overall arc running as it goes on,

also as said Suits had a great first season, season 2 starts sometime in the next month,

New Girl is great, I love the cuteness of Zoey.

The Secret Circle was brilliant but got cancelled, there is rumors that it might be getting taken over by ABC Family so fingers crossed.

    Others I'd suggest

    - Don't Trust the Bitch in apartment 23
    - Grimm
    - Once Upon a Time

The above are ones I've just gotten into and would recommend.

    New Girl
    Revenge
Suburgatory - Great show, was in danger of going on Autopilot towards the end but they kicked new life into it just in time.
Bitch In Apt 23 - really great stuff
    Hell On Wheels
Grimm - worth sticking with after a slow start
    Suits
NYC 22 - Cancelled but a pretty good show so far
Missing - Just ended and cancelled but a bit of craic and worth it for Ashley Judd alone.
Person Of Interest - another slow burner but worth the wait.

    Avoid:
Touch - complete waste of time and energy by everybody. Goes nowhere.
2 Broke Girls - Harmless fun but goes on autopilot fairly quickly. It's fine as a weekly 1 ep watch but not really boxset material I think. You'll go mental watching back to back.
The Secret Circle - Teen Angst, poor writing, poor acting, characters you don't care about and storylines only interesting where the adults are interacting with each other.

Seems 'New Girl' is worth my time catching out on the comedy front, with maybe a glance at 'Suburgatory'. I'm thinking though of checking out 'Happy Endings' before that based on glowing reviews of its second season here.

On the drama front I'll check out 'Person of Interest'. I thought this was a bog-standard procedural but looks like there might be a little more. Maybe 'Grimm' and 'Revenge' after that depending on how my time goes!

Thanks for the suggestions so far - any more, keep them coming. I forgot to mention I had tried 'American Horror Story' (enjoyed most of, although a terrible ending) and 'Suits' (didn't like it enough to keep with it).

Thread confirms it was a pretty sh*tty year for new TV.

I'm after getting through 5 eps of Awake. Am thoroughly enjoying it. It only has 1 season. Hope it doesn't end on a cliffhanger. Afraid of going in to the spoiler thread for obvious reasons.

    2 new good shows are

Veep is a good new comedy from Chris Morrison, centres around an incompetent Vice President and her staff

Magic City is set in 50's Miami in a hotel that is part owned by the mafia and it follows the story of the owner and his family

Revenge is starting on E4 tonight, 9PM.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.
