im nervous of the sun but thats my own hang up due to the excess weight i am carrying after comfort eating when pregnant and loosing my mam, so therefore dont like the whole minimal clothing thing in the sun

OP any chance weight and little clothing could be an issue for you too

Im the same with the sun. I cant stand it. It can get too hot which im not used to. And its not a weight issue with me. I can also get heat rash when too hot. I have to wear long sleeves top and pants too to cover up from the sun as I have alot moles. I have been warned to stay out from the sun.
Then you have the long evenings when its cooler but the midgets are out eating you.

I dont like the winter either, too cold! Im just weird. I prefer the autumn. Its not too hot and not too cold.

At this moment in time I am sitting in the kitchen typing this instead of going out in the sun.I hate it when it is this hot:eek:
I hate the feel of the sun burning into my skin even though I would have on factor 50!
If it's too hot I feel ill and in weather like this I will stay inside where it is cool.In my 20/30s I would lie out no bother but now as I am in my 40's I am not able for it at all!
Like HardLuckWoman I don't like it when it is too cold either.

    Hi,

I'm the opposite I love the sun, but everyone is different.

For me I find it is not to warm out, just nice :)
Might I suggest getting out and maybe walking in the shade, its actually not overally warm out now and there is a nice breeze, especially at coasts.
Maybe also go somewhere for an ice cold drink, ice cream. The weather can also be enjoyed in the shade. Just try carry on doing what you do on a normal day.

As for clothing, just wear what you are comfortable in, loose clothes are the best imo cause it allows the air to get in and you feel less hot. Plenty of ice cold drinks and shade.

I would try not to let it get in on you to much, it's to cool down by the weekend.

These next 8 weeks are hellish, they are the run up to and after the longest day of the year. It's too bright, the days last too long, I am at risk from migraine due to the brightness, hayfever due to all the plants and trees flowering, sun burn as I don't tan and I am allergic to most sun creams and once it goes above 23 degrees the heat makes me cranky.

So you are not the only one and every time I get told cheer up and enjoy the sun I want to punch that person.

You're certainly not alone. I don't like the sun either. My eyes are very sensitive and even winter sun makes it difficult for me to see. But at least winter sun has no warmth to it. I dislike the heat too, feeling of being clammy and sweaty and lethargic. The only good thing about summer are the long days as I do like it staying bright until late so long as I'm not out in it. I love summer evenings when it's bright but has cooled down.

But this is Ireland and there's probably nowhere better in the world to live for people who dislike too cold or too hot. Weather like today doesn't happen often so I can put up with it. I've been to London or New York and it's absolutely unbearable there. Here is uncomfortable but certainly bearable.

Even though i like the sun when it lasts for days i wish it would rain. I have a fair 2 year old who gets very cranky as the day goes on. Luckily enough he's at the age that when the weather is starting to get to him he'll tell me he wants to go inside.

I love autumn and winter. I feel I come alive then!
Its not so much the heat, I just hate the sun.
    I will cover up/wear sunscreen.

I wore a jumper at work today-I didnt find it that hot (Ive lived in 50 degrees) and all day all I could hear was "jees its so hot how are you not melting in your jumper". I found it mildly warm, but not hot.

As Ive had to explain to a few people, Im just not made for the sun (typical irish skin) and I dont see the logic in burning your skin to try get a tan. If you are made for the sun (i.e. tan etc) fair enough.

    hi everyone

thanks so much for all the replies, i didnt actually think i would get any so im not alone then which is good!! I actually went anonoymous as i thought it sounded so weird!! anyway, someone asked was it to do with a weight issue and i used to think it could have been as years ago i was bigger but then i got slim and i still felt the same, i just hate it, i have never liked it and trying to explain to people why i hate it is so annoying aswell!! the funny thing is i dont like been cold so you would think id like the sun!! i read an article recently that we are not getting enough vitamin D so im tryin to force myself to walk in it for 20 mins if i can!! but next week i think it gets cooler again so i'll be happy again!! thanks everyone!!

I prefer the winter months, the number of drunk people screaming on the street late at night has increased due to the obvious fact that they aren't rushing in doors. My eyes are sensitive to the light. It always seems easier to bare if I'm in a hot country on holiday, irish weather is so wishy washy at least on holiday if it's a hot day to begin with it will probably stay that way. I can't expose my skin to the sun for too long. In terms of advice: for health reasons you should go outside for a while to get the vitamin D our race lacks! You may get used to it if it continues like this for a while (hmm I doubt it), stay hydrated :)

Yup, not a fan of the heat, don't mind the sun too much. I love cold weather, I'm walking around in a tshirt in the middle of winter when everyone else has a bunch of layers on them. We don't get it cold enough here sadly

    Cannot stand the Summer !

I hate the heat. I find it extremely tiring, heat exhaustion and all that.

I also get the aul hay fever. Constantly blowing my nose and rubbing my eyes and awake coughing every night.

Give me a cold miserable Winters night anytime and I'll be happy as Larry! :)

Looks like a lot of people agree with you OP :)

hate it, its grand at the beach, or a pleasant cool evening in a beer garden, yay. but during the day, its hot, sticky, cars are boiling, towns are full of half dressed scobes, its impossible to sleep at night when its humid.

fcuk the summer, roll on october, best time of the year imo. shorter nights, leaves, halloween, brilliant.
