Packet tracer is crap, especially for the fourth semester, it doesn't do frame relay switching. I had lots of problems with PT not working right including problems in one of the PT exams where I consulted my notes and had configured everything correctly but it still wouldn't accept it.

I have used Packet Tracer for frame relay and it works fine. You send it through a cloud and configure the routers. Must be your configuration.

Lots of urls to help you configure it:

That's what I mean, it stimulates it as a cloud. It does not allow you configure a router as a frame relay switch. This actually came up in my semester 4 practical exam in the course I took.

Don't need to know service provider setup for ccna. Very surprised that came up in a course. Was that for ccna?

Yes, the semester 4 practical exam on the course I did had it. It was required to setup a frame relay switch as part the practical exam.

PT is very poor for lots of things, like Ospf and Eigrp authentication, Acl's and Stp. Therefore I wouldn't be too concerned with it. GNS3 is miles ahead.

it definitely won't come up in the actual ccna exam though. I have sat it twice and never came up nor was it in any of the material. I found packet tracer excellent when I started studying networks as you can see the packets actually moving around the network and can see the mac address changing etc. It has everything needed to pass the ccna in it. More advanced features are ccnp topics and gns3 is what is needed for those.
