Uploading CVs to jobs.ie - PDF or .doc?

    Hi,

Does anyone know, in relation to applying for jobs on Jobs.ie, when you are uploading your CV, is there a preferred format you should use? I've been using PDF, as it means the format looks exactly the same to the person who reads it as it does to me. However, PDFs are known to be larger in size than other formats.

If I used .doc or something, the format could easily change, and mess up how my CV looks.

Does anyone know the answer to this, or does it matter at all?

    Thanks

I don't think it really matters. The vast majority of companies who use the CV database feature are recruitment agencies, so they will contact you if they don't like the formatting of your CV.

BTW I use an old Word 97 format for my CV and it looks perfect in all versions of Word.

I'd only ever upload it as a PDF.
Just in case the formatting screws up or they can't open the file. I doubt many companies would be bothered getting back to someone if the formatting is bad or if they can't see the file

I applied to ALOT of jobs through jobs.ie over the years.

At one point I started to use Open Office and jobs would email me back saying they couldnt open '.odt' or '.ott' format (OpenOffice formats) So to this day I save my CV in "Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP .doc" and i've never had any more problems.

But I see were you are coming from with sending it in .pdf format. It would look nice and neat. But problem is, knowing with how many people apply for jobs these days. You are unlikely to recieve any emails saying coud you send it in another format. If they cant open it they'd just look at the next candicate. So its up to you op. But i'd go with .doc
