CIMA Course

    Just wondering does anybody know if W.I.T. run a CIMA course. I have a Finance degree but cant find work so considering going back to study Accountancy.

    No, there are very few if any professional accountancy courses run by any of the colleges. You could see if your degree is sufficient to get you on the WIT Masters in Accountancy. This gets exemptions from the professional bodies. You could also check the accounting bodies themselves to see what options they have.

    CIMA has two stages, certification stage and professional stage. Most business/commerce degrees will allow you examptions from the certification stage. Then the 9 professional exams, with your finance degree you could have further exemptions. When you register you will be given study material, there are revision classes on the run up to each exams. Shouldn't be too hard if you put in the effort.

    There is a brand shiny new HD in Accounting programme which is a conversion programme into accounting. It can be found on the website or by calling the school of business. It is not specifically CIMA, more orientated towards ACCA; but worth looking into.

    Alternatively there is a new masters in finance info systems, which might be worth looking over.

    I've just seen there that Griffith College are starting cima courses... I was just looking at their website for information it's www.gcd.ie . hope that helps.:)
