Yellow staked hazard - correct option

Recently I've noticed spinneys growing on a par 3 at my course beside a water hazard. Basically if you hit off the tee into the hazard you take a drop at point A. If the ball carries the hazard and falls back into the hazard then the correct drop would be at point B taking point of entry and line of the flag. However, the new spinneys make dropping at point B almost impossible which leaves the only other option of going back to the tee. IMO if the spinneys remain then the side of the hazard nearest the green should be defined with red stakes which will will allow the player 2 club lengths from the hazard or failing that a defined drop zone.

    Any thoughts?

Yes, what you say makes sense

When you say "almost impossible" - is it really or is it just a hard shot? How tall are the trees and is there anything preventing you from going back 50 yards so that you can get the ball up over the trees?

    This is key.
Even if the trees are super tall, thats the players problem for hitting the ball int he water int he first place.

Lots of people think that because you are taking a penalty all of your problems should be over and you should be left in perfect position as you have already taken your medicine...not so.

IMO i'd just play from the Tee again.

If it was a red staked hazard it would be different and you could drop laterally and would make life easier.

With hitting straight into the hazard directly though it might not necessarily be point A, it could be point B.

It all depends on where you enter the hazard keeping point of entry between you and the pin

FFS I'd hardly be whingin if there was room to go back to clear the fuc**n trees. I'm obviously talking about a situation where there's no room to go back only more trees and scrubland. Will I draw another picture ?

Adjust your tampon there AldilaMan - answer - don't hit it in the water or if you do, hit it again and don't hit it into the water.:D

If you've nothing to contribute to the question then piss off. When I said impossible did you think I was excluding the option of going back 50 yards. A simple Fuc**g question but amazingly some boards members seem to be a bit thick.

If there was room to go back I wouldn't ask the question Greebo (prick)
Oh I feel a ban coming on !!:D

If there isn't a feasible option of going back behind the hazard then the stakes there should be red allowing a drop within 2 club lengths but this could prove difficult too, finding a spot within 2 club lengths that is not nearer the hole...

Have a read of this which covers the situation.

I'm fairly certain i know the hole you're talking about and there is plenty of room to drop it in the right place. Fair enough, you have trees between you and the green and you'll have an awkward stance on a downhill lie and be playing from sticky rough, but that's all just tough titty.

If you can't get over the trees, or don't think you'll get the ball through them, chip up to your left towards the tee or to the area between the tee and green.

You have plenty of options, but as others have suggested, just because you get a drop, doesn't mean you're entitled to a clean slate for your next shot.

In fairness, it's unusual that the only option is to tee off again. I would agree that red stakes or a drop zone would be a good addition. That said, I don't know the hole in question, just going on the description here.
