Why is the docklands bus lane on the north quay of the Liffey outside Anglo/Central bank building closed?

I passed that location last week and it looked to me as if some sort of pipelaying is going on.

Now is about a good time to dig up lots of last year's resurfacing. Spotted the same somewhere else recently and they looked to be leaving it in a mess.

Oh, well, the good surfaces were nice for a while. ;)

It looks like they are building stages for some sort of event. A marathon or cycle race perhaps?

Maybe it's for the F1 car thing that's on soon.

There's a Formula 1 event on the 3rd of June and I'm nearly sure the route passes here, could be for that.

    EDIT: Beaten to it

I don't think that section of the quay had been resurfaced, it seems to stop at the Anglo building. The roadworks are just beyond that section.

I passed by here yesterday and the traffic was a disaster. Aside from the major roadworks, the construction of the Bavaria F1 marquee added to the problems. You have to wonder how the site was cleared for the event considering how close it is to the roadworks. From a health and safety view it was also dodgy, as the footpath and cycle lane were closed, forcing pedestrians/joggers and cyclists into the line of traffic.

I think there was a Docklands run last night, my dad was stuarding it so that could have been why the area was closed off :)

Funding has also been approved to finish the North Wall Quay QBC and change the point roundabout.

So the bus lane was closed to allow cars drive on the road?

There was some work on the Point roundabout last week, not sure if that's connected.
