The car was parked in Tallaght hospital most of the day and some prick decided to try and take my mirror and motor assembly on drivers side. The result is I have a good mirror and housing but the motor is out of place. I have up/down movement but no left/right.

I tried pushing the motor back but it will not re-seat. When I took off the housing, I still cannot get access. I want to remove the mirror to get a closer look at the assembly but it will not pop off.

Does anyone know if the mirror can come off easily.

I rang Toyota and they tell me I would have to replace the lot at €92 + vat (which ain't bad) or €140 incl VAT for part plus fitting.

There are 3 screws underneath holding the lot and I think I could fit it myself if I had to.

For the moment, I want to try to a repair by re-seating the motor. It is just getting to it that is stopping me.
