We are aged 20-23 and all single. Were just looking for a good lively pub/club with people our own age and of course the all important element, nice women.:p

Kilburn High Road is very lively, plenty of pubs and late bars for ye, and it's just up the road from Cricklewood. Check out the Good Ship, the Westbury or the Betsy Smith.

In my opinion you would be better off going into central London on Sat night. Leciester Square area.....great choice of pubs and clubs to choose from.
Not sure where The Church is now, when i moved to London it was in Kings Cross but then moved to Kentish Town. I left there in 2005. If it is still in either of those locations, you can get the Thameslink train service which runs through Cricklewood.

I dont think Cricklewood is the best spot for going out really!

Kilburn High Road yes, a bit of a laugh and a good few pubs and clubs. That or central london, and remember that pubs and clubs close earlier than in Ireland, so start early ;)

The Church is a bit far as ye would be going from NW London right down South East, far too much time on a tube.

Leicester Square on any given weekend is jointed and has a truly astonishing number of places that'll try and charge you £10 a head for the privilege of entering an over-priced pub full of tourists. On the Jubilee weekend, I'd avoid it like the plague.

If you're in the NW end of things, Kilburn High Road is literally down the road from you - the Good Ship & Powers are both good if you like live music, and you've got the North London Tavern, Westbury, Black Lion and Betsy Smith as other options. (The Good Ship is usually open late too).

There are also a few decent pubs on West End Lane which is parallel to Kilburn High Road, though AFAIK most of them close around half-elevenish.

Yeh but the Church is a Sunday afternoon thing. The idea is that you hit the Church, then when that shuts head off to Walkabout in Shepherds Bush, and then move on to Redbacks. Sounds like it would be right up these lads street

...as in Redbacks in Acton (for op)

Usually that isn't a bank holiday in the UK but it's the special Jubilee bank holiday. Expect diversions and closures around central London, jolly hockey sticks street parties and lots and lots of tourists. I remember the 50th and if this is anything like that, it'll be a tough One for a lads weekend.

Jesus wept, I haven't been there for 15 years. First place I ever had vodka redbull; they called it a pflugel.

Why do you think it won't be great for a lads weekend?

Why do you think it won't be great for a lads weekend?

It really depends on what you want to do and maybe I shoud read into your referee to Cricklewood in the title. If you're heading to London for a weekend, I guess I'd expect you'd want an experience that was London related. Fr nightlife fr e that would be more Soho, Shoreditch etc. a night out in Cricklewood, Clapham etc is a suburban night out and ones with those restrictions. It's not to go be that special or more unique than a suburban night out in reload (except poorer service, perhaps less choie unless you want wine or real ale).

A weekend away in London can be a great thing, I've been here 16 years bt lots of mates come over and we've had some messy stag dos etc. no need to go anywhere flash but sitting in a suburban pub or nightclub, they might as all well stay in Dublin or head for a big weekend in Galway.

First weekend in June is 60th jubilee weekend, they've moved the bank holiday and added another one to make it a huge weekend for UK domestic tours to London meaning an overcrowded city, bars etc more sensitive to trouble etc. hotels more expensive etc. all makes it a little poorer proposition to me. ymmv.

Have you seen Clapham High Street on a Saturday night?

    Lots of times.

Have you seen the high Street in Croydon on a Saturday night or Kingston or hundreds of other suburbs. Same level of patronage at substantially the same chain bars and restaurants!! (Having a different name doesn't remove it from the chain!)

Got the bus past there the other week, looked closed down.

My point is that referring to Clapham as a "suburb" is a bit ridiculous - it's a 45 minute walk from Westminster. If Clapham is a suburb, then most of London is a suburb of itself.

Extending that to say that "suburban night life" is "restricted" suggests that there's no night life in London outside Soho and Shoreditch, which is even more ridiculous.

I think I was making the point that it was a not particularly unique style of nightlife as might justify an international trip!

Having just noticed your postcode, I guess I can understand that you feel I'm dissing your neighbourhood. Not really my intention, nothing wrong with Clapham as a place to live or socialise just not sure it's where i'd send 8 Irish lads on a boozy weekend.

Well that's fair enough - Clapham High Street would not be my sort of thing at all and I certainly would not recommend it to visitors.
