Computer won't start!

My computer is quite sick and won't get out of bed at all!

I turn it on and... well the fans all come on, and I can hear the HDD and CD drives working away, but that's about it! Nothing comes up on the screen and no beeps or anything.

Time was, this would happen every now and again. And if I tighten the monitor lead to the graphics card (as in push it in with my hand) - sometimes I'd have to try this a few times - the CPU fan (the noisiest of them) would quieten down and the computer would start up.

But now not even that's happening. I've tried taking out the graphics card and other hardware, even memory, and turning it on, but no joy (except when I took out the memory I got a long beep but that's it). I can kind of tell it's not booting even without the graphics card because the CPU fan stays at full loudness.

The graphics card is an Sapphire Radeon 3850, the MB is a Sapphire Pure Crossfire II... Not too sure about the CPU.

I am at a loss now...

First thing to try is, another screen or try your screen on another PC to rule out GPU or screen.
then give current state and specs of the PC. As much details as poss.
