Acne scar/red mark treatment?

Had mild but persistent acne on my face, and moderate acne on my back, throughout my teens and into my early 20s.

Went on Roaccutane for six months and it worked wonders. I have how totally clear skin but three years on, I still have red marks/scars on my back (I'm 27 now). My face is totally clear, thankfully.

The marks on my back aren't too extreme but they still bother me. Got a bit of a tan last year and they weren't at all noticeable, but as soon as tan faded it was back to square one.

Has anyone had any successful treatments for this? Heard about laser treatment etc. All help appreciated!

The obvious one would be Bio Oil.. have you tried that yet?

It's great for stretch marks etc.. I've heard it's also good for other kinds of scarring..

Are you male or female? I'm guessing you're female. I have some on my face, and my back is scarred pretty bad. I actually like the ones on my face I think it adds character or something! As for my back, I just couldn't care less, not many people see my back anyway! Well I guess what I'm saying is you shouldn't worry about it, no one cares about a few acne scars.

I wouldn't mind scars - these are more like blotchy red marks and there's a good few of them. Basically from my shoulders half way down my back. I'm male, not female.

Hard to apply to your own back though... couldn't be comfortable asking someone to do it for me on a regular basis. Not even the missus (young relationship).

same boat as you. im just finished roaccutane about 3 weeks ago. i was perscribed retin-A cream that ive to start in just over a weeks time. its for my scars. dont know how well it works, but im sure you could go back to your dermotologist and ask about what you can do.
personally id be wary about buying expensive over the counter stuff cos that never did anything to help my skin, only made it worse. thats just my case tho, everyone is different.
i dont know anything about laser treatment, but when i asked my dermotologist about a year ago about it, she basically didnt have a high opinion of it.
i always refused to take "hard drugs" for my acne problem, and i tried everything from changing my diet to accupuncture, but nothing worked! at the end of the day, the roaccutane is the only one that worked!
my scars are pretty bad, i literally have a "crater face", but im hoping this retin-A cream will work. go to your derm and get all the information you can about all the different types of scar treatment, its expensive, but its worth it!

(just to mods, im not recommending to take "hard drugs" for an acne problem, just saying what i would do, and i definitely am recommending that anyone with a skin problem should consult with their doctor and see what would work for themselves, that first trip to my doctor about my skin was the best thing i ever done) :)
