HI I'm sure someone here will be able to help me.
I'm at a loss to find out what NAFD stands for in relation to (Tokina ATX 2,8/11-16 DX NAFD) this is a new version of this lens and so far I've had no luck in pinning this down.

Seems reasonable, it however doesn't explain the difference between the "older " Tokina ATX 116 PRO DX AF11-16mm F/2.8 Nikon and the "new" Tokina ATX 2,8/11-16 DX NAFD for NIKON, this is from Amazon while trying to decide where to buy this lens.
Page where I found this info:-http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tokina-ATX-116-AF11-16mm-Nikon/dp/B0014Z5XMK/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_nC?ie=UTF8&coliid=I2QVB5LVKWK8GN&colid=1O0JNQOIM8LEH

are you sure there's actually a newer version ? Maybe Amazon screwed up or the dealer is lying to try and pull sales ? The tokina website only has the one: http://www.tokinalens.com/products/tokina/atx116prodx-a.html and there's no mention of any 'nafd' technology on their site. See here http://www.tokinalens.com/products/tokina/tokina-02.html normally lens companies will stop at nothing to come up with fancy acronyms and plaster them all over the website and their lenses in order to sell the latest and greatest to the rubes :D

I think you are most likely correct, thanks for links, (why didn't my link paste keep it's hyperlink?) I had already tried Tokina and a load of other places and got nowhere, hence this post, I do see Sigma with NAFD used so I'm tending towards the first answer," Nikon auto focus drive"
I just want to be certain before splashing the cash. The opinion seems to be that this is currently the best wide Dx lens.
