    Take them off and stick them in the freezer (your ears that is).

    CHRIST - do not let any of the heat out of your laptop, that is the only thing keeping it going, I have spent about 23 years studying computers and the only thing I can say for certain is that when you allow the heat to escape from your computer or laptop they perform a lot worse - you absolutely need to plug up any openings in your laptop where the heat is escaping, and just to be on the safe side I would also keep my laptop in the oven when I am not using it(full power of course) as the laptop will absorb the heat and work a lot better.
