O.k so i have played a few rounds now with this wedge and to be honest i think this is a serious alternative to the vokeys(of which i have one).
First the club, the weight and feel is perfect i think, not too heavy,The shaft is the kbs tour which i think was a good move,i have stiff kbs tours in my burner 2.0's and the grip is a lamkin with the 2 dot line up on it.The spin generated is very good and it does not take much to get the ball to check on the short pitches.Overall im pretty happy and may even go so far as to replace the vokeys too!!!

I prefer the look of the XFT wedges and the replaceable face but the idea of not having to select varying degrees of bounce with the ATV wedges sounds appealing. How do you find that aspect Redrikkick, sounds more like a marketing ploy than reality?

My home course is parkland and it is playing just fine. Will be playing Tralee and the Dooks at the weekend so will update.I have a 58*vokey too find the atv wedge easier to hit imo.:D

Hi Redriddick, how're those ATV wedges working out for you. As versatile as the name implies? Also what sort of shafts have you in them? Thanks.

Anyone comment on these bad boys? They look and feel like the business around the greens. On full shots is what i am interested in as need one i can hit from <110yds.

I have the 60 degree ATV wedge, and love it. The extra long grip is really handy for choking down for half shots, though I mainly use it for full shots myself. I have to say it the best lob wedge I've used. Sits lovely behind the ball from any lie.

I bought the 52 and 58 ATV wedges in March this year. I ordered them from TM through McGuirks (using vouchers) with a DG Lite X100 shaft in the 52 to match my irons and a DG Lite S300 shaft in the 58 to offer more touch around the greens. I still do prefer the looks of the TaylorMade XFT wedges but these are no longer generally available having been replaced by the ATV.

Anyway as it transpired TM messed up the order and supplied the wedges with a DG SL S300 shaft in the 52 and a DG SL X100 shaft in the 58. The wedges were for sale at the time for €99 each and after TM confessed that they couldn't supply the wedges with the ordered DG Lite shafts and instead had substituted the shafts most similar in spec they offered a choice of returning the wedges for a full refund or keeping them at a discount. I eventually got them for €59 each I think (would have to check the receipt to confirm) so the choice was a simple one.

I don't have much to compare them with as I never really had specific wedges previously (my old set of irons had a PW and SW included which I used). It took me quite a while to get used to them but overall the process was quite enjoyable and I like the way the clubs sit behind the ball.
I generally don't get a lot of spin with irons/wedges so can't say I'm back spinning balls off the green or any unwanted trait like that but they do check up nicely when required. I find the 58 very good from green side bunkers and they've helped my game a lot in this regard as I never previously had any confidence of getting out never mind to within putting distance.
Another area my game struggled with was from 100 yards, I previously used to have to hit a 3/4 PW so distance control was an issue. That was the reason for the 52 to gap the degrees between my now 47 PW and 58. A nice controlled shot for my generally high ball flight goes 100 yards, I can hit it 110 yards but it's more of a forced shot for me and accuracy goes out the window.

The marketing hype of the universal bounce is mainly that but there is a nice sharp leading edge to the wedges when square. I predominately play parkland golf and have had no issues with excessively deep divots and opening the club in bunkers does allow for increased bounce given the grind of the sole plate. Overall I'm happy with my purchase and have no intentions of replacing or trying out alternatives any year soon.

Thanks guys. You've both hit on what struck me initially when I got one in my hand just off the side of a green, they sit so nicely behind the ball. I couldn't believe it. Makes it look really easy to get the required contact needed without fear of hitting them fat or drop-kicking/blading over the green. When it comes to chipping from just off the green, I've become a bit of a jack of all trades and a master of none. Depending on what's in front of me or how I read it I've been known to use anything from putter, hybrid, 7i to PW, GW SW or LW. I've a tendency to avoid using loft when the pressure is on for fear of doing one of the aforementioned shots. I could definitely see myself retiring the 7i/hybrid if not using them a lot less with these wedges. After all - shott game is all about confidence. No confidence leads to anxiety which leads to messed up tempo which leads to piss poor short game :).

When I compared the sole of my three Cleveland wedges to these ATV's the sole looks so thin. Good to hear they can be used for full shots. My PW in my current set is probably close to 9i for most sets as I have strong lofted irons. Nett result is PW is for anything from 120-130 (flat calm). I need to use my CG12 50° for 115-100yds & the CG10 54° for anything between 80-95yds so I use them a lot for full shots, particularly on short Par 4's. LW stays in the bag until I'm greenside.

Thanks again. That's it... I'm buying three for the Winter! Anyone want to by three Clevelands?? :)

    Slight hijack,

I'll be looking to get something between my SW and PW soon and these sound promising. The sand wedge head I have feel's/looks "thick" when looking down at it and sometimes I get that horrible clack when I strike the ball. I'm sure its not the club and its just me but at times I do be afraid to hit it from 30-60 feet in.

What kind of degree's should I be looking for for this?
I had a Titleist 56 Deg wedge and couldn't hit it consistently so I got rid of it but the loft seemed decent if a bit short on distance when I got it right.

Best to check out the loft of your current SW and PW and then find a middle point.
PW's are around about 46* and SW's about 54* but it can, and most likely, will vary a fair bit between brands and how old the clubs are. (Club manufacturers have been reducing the lofts of clubs over the years to sell extra yardage -> a new 7 iron will go further than your last one...mainly because it's loft is closer to your old 6 iron)
