Just looking for opinions on whether it's worth spending approximately 120 euro on repairing a 3-4 year old Dell Studio 1737

The case is notoriously bad, known for cracking at the left corner of the hinge and lid.
I've replace the lid about a year ago already (outside of warranty, Dell don't want to know)

The cracks eventually gets so bad that the power button starts coming out and malfunctioning.

So.... 120 for a new lid and bracket ($60 + $34p&p), or tough it out and replace the machine altogether.
Nothing wrong with it otherwise...... intel core duo p7350, 4Gb ram, win premium 64bit, 640GB disk

Take €120, add the value you could sell the laptop as parts or whole and see what you could buy to replace.
You could replace the lid and hinges and end up paying more again in a short time for something else.
Most laptops have a life expectancy of 4-5 years which is a lot better than before (2-3 years). Maybe they have improved lately but they are starting to get cheaper again.

you could sell it for parts on adverts ie, then buy a new laptop 350 euro win7 2gig ram.Make sure and delete personal info ,data, docs.Use ccleaner ,delete all cookies, uninstall browsers, chrome, firefox etc.
I dont think its worth fixing, someone who fixes pcs will buy it from you.
    delete temporary internet cache files.
you,d probably get 120 if you choose to sell it.
