Hi, can someone tell me please if the Dept of environment where you send the registration cert when selling a car is freepost? I have a feeling it is so don't want to waste money on a stamp, but want to be sure they'll get it :)

    thanks

i bought a car recently and when they sent me the cert it had a mistake in the address so i asked in the tax office when i went to tax it and the lady said i needed to send it to shannon again, she actually put it in the envelope for me, wrote the address on it and put freepost on top and gave it to me to post it, and they obviously got it because i got the correct one in few days, so that's why i'm asking...
and no need for ridicule, yes im counting every cent these days, so don't judge me unless you walk a mile in my shoes

    thanks for reply

I appreciate we aren't walking in your shoes - but if you had enough to buy a car, you have enough to buy a stamp.........

Doesn't sound like much walking is being done either, what with a shiny new car. :D

.....you're missing the point. The worst, oldest, brokest car you could find.....would probably have the price of a stamp on the carpet, under the seat.

I'm sorry, but there's no way I'm buying 'it's only an old car' and I'm trying to save 55cent.

In fact, ah, this thread has probably used more than 55c worth of electricity on the boards.ie server so far.........

i wish to all you nice guys that you always have a job so that you're able to pay your mortgages and buy food and clothes for your kids and never have to buy nappies on the credit card because there is just no money on the account

I think the point the lads are trying to make is that if you can afford to buy a car (even an old banger), pay for tax, insurance, NCT, petrol, maintaince etc., then surely you can afford a 55c stamp
