I got a Form 12 (PAYE income) in the post today. It's for the year 2011 and I was unemployed all year. Why would I get this?
I never filled one of these forms before.

The form 12 covers small amounts of non paye income also. Some are sent out randomly but you are required to complete all sections that apply to you.
Most are targeted at people with additional non paye income like rental, foreign income etc. Others are targeted at specific reliefs claimed like rural renewal reliefs and pension reliefs.

No, none of these apply to me. I had no PAYE income last year. Only income was from unemployment assistance. Seems like a waste of time sending it to me?

I visited my local revenue office today and they told me they have no record of sending anything out to me. There is no requests on my file so the form would be just thrown in the bin if I filled it and sent it back to them. They couldn't understand why I got one when I was not working last year!
