Get added as a named driver on his policy and drive his car.

Do you have driving of other cars on your own policy ?

If she has open driving and you are over 25 then with a full licence you will be covered to drive her car. Ask her to look at her cert to see if it includes other drivers.

Or, as the previous poster has said, your own policy may allow you to drive other cars, provided you do not own the car and have not hired it. Check your cert.

    1. Ring your insurance company and ask if you already have drive other cars, and if not, how much would it cost to add that.
    2. Have his mother ring her insurance company and ask how much it would cost to add you for a limited period.
    3. Find out how much it would be to hire a car for the duration, with 2 named drivers.
    4. Pick the cheapest one.

It think it would be a real cheek to ask your mates ma to put you on her insurance...

See if you can get it covered through your own insurance..

Or your mate could man up and do the driving for three days round Galway... It's not like it's a round the world trip ye are going on
