Merc C220 Scrap value

I have 1997 Merc C220 elegance Diesel Manual that I am going to have to get rid of in the next month or two. It has a problem with the fuel pump that makes it uneconomic to repair.

What I want to know is there any scrap value to the car. For instance are the alloys worth anything or are there any other parts that a specialist/breaker would find difficult to find. I have been offered another similar car to replace it for free so it does not even have an opportunity to be traded in or scrapped for any deal with a car dealer.

    I would welcome any suggestions.

Really unless you are prepared to break the car in your own place and wait, there is not a lot to be made out of it. You may sell a door now a bumper in 12 months etc. So unless you have the patience and the place to store it.....a shot on donedeal at a couple of hundred euro and maybe it will be exported to Africa and find a nice home. They pay a max of 300 and it needs to be driving :D

What is actually wrong with it besides fuel pump, Like would another fuel pump solve the problem or is it deeper than that?

When starting from cold and when the car is warming up, the EPC warning light comes on and the car revs will slow to an idle. If I turn off the engine and restart it, even while moving, the car recovers and goes again normally, This happens mostly while decellerating and when the the revs fall below a certain amount.

This happened before, about 75k miles ago, the fuel pump was replaced and my mechanic/computer is saying the problem is the fuel pump. This cost over 2k to fix the last time and the car while very comfortable is not worth this amount. It has slightly over 150k miles and has a few scrapes on the bumpers.

Ring a lad like this (I've no connection) http://www.buyandsell.ie/motors/damaged-repairables/dublin/scrap-vehicle-removals
and they'll give you an idea of what you could get for it.
Be prepared for a shi~e price off any of these damaged repairable lads but at least they'll land up to your door and get shut of it for you.

Stick it on donedeal as spares or repair for €500 and take the first cash offer you get.

If you've more than 3 months tax on it, you could do better to scrap it for €130/tonne and reclaim the tax.

Yes Sorry you are right. It was the Injector pump. Cost about 3 years ago 1200 plus labour plus vat. slightly over 2k.

It is only taxed for one more month, fortunately.

It is driving but needs to be restarted a few times at the begining of the journey and maybe up to 7 or 8 times while it is running during the first 5 miles or so.
