Is it enough or should I take something else?

I'm hoping to TTC in October or November and currently thinking about starting Folic Acid to prepare my body. I'm currently taking Perfectil's Hair, Skin and Nails tablets which have 400mcg of Folic Acid in them but I'm wondering if this is good enough, or should I be taking tablets specifically designed for pregnancy like Clonfolic or Pregnacare??

Clonfolic is just 400mcg of folic acid as well. No need for more.

I would also start charting temperatures and noting calendar days of your cycle if you are not on the pill.

Also maybe take fish oil like omega 3 meant to be good for brain development

I'm taking vitamin b6, folic acid, evening primrose oil and omega 3.

I'd definitely recommend you start charting so you get a clear picture of your cycles, when you ovulate, luteal phase etc.

The fertility specialist we attended said there was no need for pricey supplements and vitamins, just the folic acid. She said that the other vitamins wont do any harm if you wanted to spend the money, but folic acid was sufficient.

If you want to prepare, small healthy changes to your lifestyle and diet are far more beneficial to your TTC efforts. (these also applies to your partner as well) as in:
quit smoking - highly recommended for both of you if either of you smoke.
Alcohol - keep under recommended units limited. There is no need to quit entirely, but drink sensibly.
Both of you eat more healthily - a little more frut & veg and water, a little less junk.
Get a little exercise - dont go running marathons or anything, but if both of you have a little exercise each week its good - I went walking and did yoga, himself took up 5-a-side for 2 nights a week.

He should keep his crown jewels cool - looser briefs, avoid hot baths, avoid "storing" up his supply all week - he should "clear the pipes" a few days before your fertile days. Our clinic recommended about 3-4 days beforehand. There are supplements for men you can get him, if his diet is less than ideal.

For you, a calendar/tracking not only your cycle but other physical changes (to your cervical mucus, breasts, mood etc during the month help you a lot when you start trying. It took me a couple of months to recognise ovulation pain for instance.

Mostly, relax and have fun. Trying can get very stressful, very quickly, so both of you need to make sure the romance and spontaniety does not disappear during the process. Good luck!

Vitamin D is extremely important for fertility and pregnancy especially in the winter months.

According to Zita West over 70% of the women they see who are trying to conceive are Vitamin D deficient.

Maybe talk to your pharmacist or health food shop for advice. They would have a lot of info and it's free!
