Fine cracks on Macbook screen...

After closing the screen of our macbook (relatively gently) it has developed a few very faint cracks under the screen somehow.

Looking over some older boards.ie threads it I've been in touch with repairmymac.ie but was a little surprised at the prices they were quoting: 199 euro or so on their site (if I've read it right)- which sounded OK to me. Following it up with a request for a quote I ended up quoted between 400 and 550 euro - the lower cost for just a screen repair, the higher cost for a replacement new whole top assembly. The tech explained that he thought replacing the whole assembly tended to be less problematic than just repairing the screen and that was what he'd recommend.

I know you get what you pay for, but frankly I don't know that I have 550 euro to spend on a screen repair...

Has anyone else got the screen of their Mac repaired in Dublin lately - and if so, is this what I can expect to spend most places?

(I'm in the UK fairly often, that's another option- anyone gone that route?)

where exactly are the cracks? which model unibody or original?

The cracks are more like very faint lines, running in a long crescent down the top third of the screen, roughly centre. They seem to emanate from a little pale indentation more or less a few inches above the centre of the screen.

As far as whether it's original or unibody I'll have to admit my ignorance and say I don't know. It's actually my girlfriend's - she bought it in an Apple store in mid 2011, if that's indicative of which it's likely to be.

Since it's under warranty, I'd take it into an apple repair centre and get it checked out.
