Data Storage on phone

Perhaps someone on here can explain this to me.
I have a 2GB sd card in my phone. I cannot view the pictures which i have taken on my phone (there are only 4 or 5) as it sats i do not have enough memory and i need to delete some items.
At the minute i have 20 mb internal storage free on my phone though and 0 left on my sd. So i started to play about moving apps to see if i could free up some space on my sd. I tried to move an app from sd card to phone which claims to have total storage of 3.64 mb, but when i went to move it to the phone i got a message saying i did not have enough memory!!!
    Any ideas?

Connect the phone to your PC such that you can see the memory card as an external drive, then use a utility like WinDirStat to analyse who is using all the space.....

I suspect you have a lot of old photos and movies clogging up space.

Cheers for that. For some reason i have a load of stuff in a gps folder. Not sure why or what they are for but it is taking up a lot of space.

That could be a cache for map tiles, or if you installed a free GPS app, it might hav downloaded a load of default maps.

Open any mapping or GPS apps and clear out the cache.

Yeah i downloaded a GPS app and it seems to be downloading data 5 or 6 times per day. I have the phone since Dec and as you can imagine all that data was taking up a lot of space. I was about to fork out some of my hard earned cash on a new SD Card, but now problem solved. Thanks again.

If you want to keep using the app, you can probably go into the app settings and put a smaller limit on the cache size so it will throw away map tiles for places you haven't been to recently.

I have now turned off GPS on my phone. I only use it for tracking my distance and speed if i go for a run.

Download disk usage from the market place, it can analyze disk space on the phone and delete the files from the graphic it displays.
