i went to ballyhoura yesterday and had great fun.some of the best views i have ever seen in ireland.the hardtail mountain bike were great fun but we went to the MTB shop in killmalock, and the bike werent maintained well.the gears on my bike kept slipping and were very tight, then the chain broke well over half way up the mountain.we had to wait 30 minutes then the guy came to fix it and we had to head back to the car park:(.my advice is to rent the bikes from the bike rental shop at the car park, alot less hassle and much better quality and only 5euro extra which is worth it.
we did most of the brown trail and never came across a boardwalk(wooden bridge) which i had been looking forward to.are they in the trails at all still? or are they on a different trail?
anyway great fun overall and will be going back and i would definitely recommend it.

Still there afaik. It's on the return leg after the white trail merges with the brown trail again.

Bring your Motorbike to a designated MX track, I am sure there are some you can pay to use in the Limerick area.

theres only birdhill motocross track which is 5 minutes from me but its never open and cant use it apart from practice days, insurance and all that.
so mountain trails and stuff are the next best thing.

Any recommendations for accommodation near here? Heading down with the GF and looking for somewhere close so we can do the trails each day of the weekend.

    Cheers in advance.

Stayed here a few times . Very close to the trails and an excellent spot for some peace and quiet.

Stayed there before, fantastic spot, there is a trail from the end of the houses (across the bridge and straight through the woods) that is a fantastic shortcut to the MTB trail, there is also a tap and hose to clean off your bike.
