about 2 years ago the cv joint on the passenger shaft of my van started to knock,i went out and got a spurious driveshaft complete with the inner and outter cv,s

grand. So fitted the shaft and noticed it was leaking now,i thought i knicked or damaged the drive shaft oil seal but didnt change it as circumstances changed and the van was parked up for two years.......

in january i replaced the seal and put the van back on the road, grand,no.Seal started to leak again, changed it there yesterday and its leaking more than the last time after less than 50km

so my question is have i gotten three faulty seals over two years?or is the driveshaft not enginered correctly and not making a tight enough seal against the oil seal?I cant find the old genuine shaft to compare this to so before i shell out the guts of 300 beans on a new genuine shaft i want to no if anyone has come across this issue before

    thanks in advance

    Rob

Buy a good used driveshaft from a breaker-plenty of Berlingos being broken and €60 should get you a genuine shaft. Spurious may have a slightly smaller diameter/profile(may not) that would cause a leak but €300 is steep when a good used would do the job just as well. When you're at it, check the gearbox mating face to see it's not cracked or chipped causing the leak. Higgins in Kilcock should have a shaft already stripped out and on the shelf. Well worth the trip IMO.:)
