Electric Shower Query

Am hoping that someone out there with a bit of know how might be able to help me with a query relating to shower pressure.

I live in a ground floor flat which is all on the same level and which has a water storage tank in the hot press (i.e. not up in the attic but at head height on the ground floor).

We run our shower from the hot water in the immersion, however the pressure isn’t great so we have a triton t40i booster pump which improves the flow. The booster pump is fed off the bath mixer taps both hot and cold.

I’m wondering whether it might be possible to replace our current setup with a new electric shower which pumps and heats the water, so that we don’t have to use the “immersion and booster” combo any more. I am concerned however, since when the current booster is pumping cold water only it sounds a bit strained, as if it is not getting enough water through, however when the hot water is added into the flow it sounds much healthier. I’m worried that our cold water pressure may not be enough to feed an electric shower, as my understanding is that it will run off the cold water only.

Anyone else out there have a similar setup, and if so was it possible for you to put in an electric shower, or did you have to continue with the “immersion plus booster” arrangement that I have in place?

I need to make a decision on this soonish, as it sounds like the motor has packed up on the booster pump after many years hard use. So I'll have to either get someone in to fix the booster or to install the new setup, depending on what is possible.

If anyone can PM me a recommendation for someone to do the job I'd appreciate it. I live in Rathfarnham, Dublin 16.

    Cheers,
    Jim

Thats not your shower thats your booster pump. You say you run an electric shower. So what should happen is the booster pump is connected to a white box shower and i need to know this name.

    Thanks

Sorry Joey, my original post wasn't too clear. We don't have an electric shower, all that we have is a regular mixer setup but with the t40 booster pump to increase the pressure.

i am slightly confused....Sorry. What have you got at the moment.

T40i Which is a triton shower

T450i which is a single impeller booster pump

    Now i catch you.

You cannot replace the existing set up because the existing set up was designed for your situation. I appreciate its not very good.

One other choice is you could be a negative head 1.5 bar twin impeller pump and use it to feed a t80. As the T80 is a mains shower it will receive all the mains pressure it needs from the pump.

This set up will cost around 400+ depending on the pump 150+ for the shower then installiation around 300 euro

You cannot use a T90 in this application
