declassifying area as NBS - any advantage ?

I live in rural South Kildare and have been trying to get a decent NBS service from 3 via NBS etc. for over a year now with very little results. I have been in contact with the dept. of communications etc. already but have not really gotten anywhere. Dongle, External Antennae and Satellite have all failed to deliver a consistent and adequate (which is all I really want now) service. 3 have basically admitted that they simply do not know why our area does not get decent signal when it should as neighboring areas have decent enough internet (interference from secret bond villain lair anyone).

This has led me to ask the question...would there be any advantage in trying to get our area removed from the NBS scheme ? Would this lead to alternative providers being more amenable in providing a better service in our area....or would this be a step backwards ?

Would anyone know if this has been done anywhere else before ?

    Thoughts and opinions welcome.

No advantage and no one would bother providing any new services.

3's rubish provision of NBS isn't really competition for anyone who can provide a decent service so is unlikely to be stopping anyone.

Strange about your Satellite - maybe someone can provide an answer other than 3's incompetance or lack of will to be helpful.

Best thing to do is complain to Brussels as the department spent €40m of EU money and did not provide the service they said they would. You'll see fingers pulled out then.

Don't see why your locality would need to be NBS de-classified. AFAIK the NBS does not preclude other competitors from operating in the area...why not contact a few of them and see are they available to you.
