Books About Gardaí

Hi all.

I've read a couple of books now about the men and women in AGS and I was wondering if anyone could recommend some books about the force to me. I'm sure a lot of you share the same interest as me. I'll post the few that I've read soon enough to recommend them to you!

and there is one called "the Sheriff" or something that was pretty good but in general the other personal experience books were terrible in my opinion and didn't reflect stellar careers to being with.

Pick up a copy of the Sindo - they love writing fiction about AGS!!

i have it its not some much a read but more of a flick through pictures, nice pictures might i add but no substance. it is what it says it is a year in pictures really

I've also read it. Like the post above, it has no real information but I found the pictures great. I'm pretty sure it's like gold dust now, though.

As far as I know mainstream book stores don't have it cos it was a limited edition run of x-amount of copies... Amazon are advertising them second hand tho, and other second hand shops, eBay etc are probably the places to look

Guardians of the peace is a nice read about the start of the force.

Bog Warriors is a fiction, but is a good reflection on gardai at the time and the community.

An Garda Siochana and the Scott Medal tells of all the members that were awarded it and the reason behind it.

Also RIC wise, the Memoirs of Constable Jeremiah Mee is a good read
