Just wondering has anyone got married on a Friday the 13th or would anyone get married on this date? Am I being silly& superstitious in ruling this date out in a hotel I want to have my wedding reception in!

It wouldn't bother me as if nothing else there'd be an obvious joke to assist people with their small talk. I'd also try and swing a discount with the hotel for taking the unpopular date ;)

Would you have any problem getting married any other Friday? Or any other day of the week that happened to be the 13th? Friday the 13th is exactly the same as those days, just another day of the week, so I can see no reason to let superstitious nonsense decide for you when you should get married.

I know two people getting married on Friday the 13th this year, as mentioned I do believe there are deals to be had on that date so I definitely would.

A lot of hotels will give the midweek discount on Friday the 13th.

Go for it! My parents met on Friday the 13th, still together over 30 years later :) Though sometimes they'll insist it WAS a bad omen :pac:

I'd considered deliberately picking a Friday the 13th for our wedding next year cos of some nice things that happened on one earlier this year (I definitely consider it my lucky day!), but the months don't really suit. As someone else said, it's a good talking point for the guests and for speeches. One consideration would be whether "essential" guests like immediate family, bridal party are superstitious though, they might moan about it or be reluctant to go. I know of lots of people who won't travel on that day etc.

Colleague did this. They got exceptionally good value out of everything because they're usually very quiet on those days.

I attended a friday the 13th wedding. The day went perfectly, some years on the couple are happier than ever.

Go for it - reap the discounts!

I think I'd consider that to be a point in favour of it, the speeches would write themselves!

irishbird : Given some of the deals you've posted about in this forum, I'm amazed you didn't chance your arm for some Friday 13th discounts too! :p
