at the top level, I heard some top player saying recently that playing a game of rugby is like being in a car crash in terms of the punishment you get

Is it really that hard on the body ?
Are players generally badly bruised for days after a game.
What positions on the field take the worst punishment ?

Car crash is an exaggeration anyway but you'll be bruised and battered after a game for a few days

I love it though, brilliant feeling

i've read somewhere that the effect on the body for professional over the average career length is the equivalent of being in 8 minor car crashes. Not sure whats classed as minor though!!

The "car crash" analogy gets used a lot by physios to explain the cumulative forces the body of a prop would absorb over the course of 80 minutes in a big international or HEC game.

It certainly feels like it the day after the first game of the season.

You walk around like the tin man for days after.

Way worse - Like an Airplane crash times a million.
