Thinking of upgrading my Edge 305 with something I can use for swimming also and the 910 has caught my eye. Most places seem to be selling in and around €450 but then I came across this http://www.simplyelectronics.net/mainproduct.php?pid=15827&setcurrency=eur&gclid=COXPi4PAj7ACFcYe4Qod4UlWlQ

Anybody had any dealing with this company or a case of too god too be true? Also have the option of getting one sent on from an address in the states so any good online store recommendation also welcome.

    Handtec coming in around €375

    Cheers

Doesn't do swim HR, but you know that, right?

Yep, not bothered with it for the swim, once the heart stays beating while I'm in the water will suffice:D.... more distance & stroke. Also what in the market would rival the 910 or be worth considering.

Do a search on the photography forum for simplyelectronics, you'll find loads of different experiences there both good and bad, be aware though if you do buy from them, it'll be coming from Hong Kong and you'll most probably be paying VAT and duty to the postie or courier before you get delivery.

I received my 910 from Ebay 2 weeks ago picked it up with the hrm for 356 not a bad price. I also got the quick release and cadence sensor. I used it for a few runs without any issue just to see what kind of data it fired back at me. Its a great watch not as big as the 310 although the quick release strap does make it a bit more cumbersome. The one problem I have had with it is that when I did the ring of Kerry a few weeks ago that it shut down 4 times over the 180km all 4 times was when I was on a descent. Lucky enough I noticed it quickly and was able to restart it losingabout 500 metres of info each time. It was attached to the stem using the official garmin quick release kit. I was on tarmac roads and while there was a bit of vibration it wasn't anything too substantial.
Hopefully its just a firmware issue however my reckoning us that its more of a build issue. Maybe something to do with in built sensors for swimming etc, I hope its a firmware fix because I would hate to get rid of this great bit of kit.

Re simplyelectronics I've only used them the once a couple of months ago. Was a little nervous from what I read but had a very positive experience. What I bought cost around € 110 and no customs problems. Did I not read somewhere that they ship via an EU country or something and customs wasn't an issue? I did get frustrated just after I ordered to then be told it'd be a few weeks til they got it in (despite saying in stock) but to my surprise it still showed up within 1-2 weeks from ordering!

Decided to go ahead with the 910XT. Bought from http://www.heartratewatchcompany.com/ as another poster in a previous thread had recommended and he also threw in the bike mount free! Arrived this morning, 1 week from ordering.

they can be ok but I know people who've had awful experiences with them - no sign of the product then asking if you'll accept a different product then finally having to go to paypal or cc company to reclaim. seems to be luck of the draw...
