Front Left headlight at 10% and no lights on both when switch to high beam

Just before I discovered that the alternator's volt-reg on my Skoda was fecked, the front left headlight started operating at only 10% power and when I switch to high beams, the 2 front headlights go out and I have no light at all.

I discovered that the Front Left Dip or Front Left Main fuse was blown so replaced that (Can't remember which it was now but it was definitely the Front Left Dip or Main fuse)

Fitted the new voltage reg today and problem still present so went looking for Earth points for the first time ever as research pointed to a possible bad point.

The haynes manual claims that the 2 points for the FL and FR head lights are "in right of engine compartment" and "in left of engine compartment". I found what I thought were the 2 points on the left and right suspension "covers?" if that's what they are called. They looked in pretty good condition based on images of bad ones i've seen online but I gave them a good clean anyway although this visibly made little difference.

Once everything was hooked back up I still saw no change in the original problem.

So my question is, what might be the cause of this problem and can someone point me in the right direction as to my next move?

    Simon

I just checked the relay and that seems to be working just fine.. I switched it with the back screen heater (same relay type) and no change..

Really hoping someone has an idea of what I might check next, I havent a clue what I'm doing here..
