Die drei Digitalprogramme der ARD, tagesschau24 (bisher EinsExtra), Einsfestival und EinsPlus, werden nach aktuellen Planungen ab Anfang 2014 in HD ausstrahlen. Für das Programm Einsfestival gab es bereits mehrere HD-Showcases: Testausstrahlungen wurden zur IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung) und zu Weihnachten 2010 gesendet.

It is a pity as they have that einsfestival HD channel that shows nothing but the same short video on a loop 24/7. Is there any reason why that doesn't at least simulcast the einsfestival SD channel?

possibly cos its a crap channel and having it in HD wouldnt bring any improvement ? :mad:
Not to mention its name is idiotic.
It has NOTHING to do with festivals or anything (NOTE: eins plus not eins festival is showing rock am ring festival!). The muppets just decided to call it that because the channel is designated as a youth channel. So what do they show on it at primetime 6pm? Lindenstrasse which is sorta like the German equivalent of fair city only even crapper.

anyhow, they have been testing HD with eins festival since 2007 but only in 2014 will it be swiched on permanently along with the other main public channels.

BTW. a few weeks back a lot of the regional channels along with the ZDF speciality channels had their HD versions switched on.

there'll be extensive highlights on the 8th and 9th of June on SWR, presumably in HD
Noting of course that german public service HD is not 1080i "full hd", its only 720p

Am 8. und 9. Juni zeigt das SWR Fernsehen nach Mitternacht in je 180 Minuten Zusammenfassungen der besten Konzerte.

MTV used to also show the festival live but this seems to be no longer the case.
Then again, what does MTV have to do with music anymore anyhow ?
