Yes, it's the standard lens, effectively the cropped sensor version of the standard 50mm 'nifty fifty' of 35mm and full frame. Can't go wrong with it. You'll probably find after a while that it just ends up practically glued to the front of your camera.

Would there be any reason I should look at the 50mm 1.8 lens as opposed to the 35mm?

the 50mm is a short telephoto on the d60; good for portraits but less of an all rounder.

Thanks for all the info! Are there any other sites known for good lens prices before I go for pixmania?

I have the 50mm. I think it's too tight for general use (particularly indoors), and would happily swap for 35mm.

I just bought the 50mm AF-D in Berminghams today. €139. I don't know if AF works with the D60.

Edit: kenrockwell says it doesn't af with D60.

Yes, you need AFS with the D60, along with the other low end nikon bodies that don't have AF motors in the body.

Go into gunns and ask for the same price and come to think on it buy it there anyway. It's worth 5% for the service / advice / backup / Human being that knows their stuff .
