Man, we need more info, you haven't told us anything.

Budget? Requirements? Mileage you cover? How many seats you need? New/used? Spec you want? Etc etc

The more you give us the more we'll be able to help.

Diesel with low road tax at that budget presents lots of yokes powered by the PSA 1.6 engine found in Volvo, Ford, Peugeot and Citroen, at that budget you're not going to get many 2008 options so if I was you I'd stretch to 2.0 tax and enjoy a much better selection of motors.

    nothing fancy you say........

Would you prefer a 5 seater or 7 seater?

Believe me, none of my top 3 cars fall into the "reliable diesel with low road tax" category!

+1, plus the fact that for certain types of driving, the words 'reliable' and 'diesel' are mutually exclusive anyway:)!

Anyway, the OP is not going to get a diesel within his budget in the low tax category (08 onwards) unless it has mega miles!
