Adios. At last they have seen the errors of their ways.

Hope that's true, it was a pain in the ass, had used Ryan air for years, AL site I've found much more user friendly and used them last couple of years instead, not much difference pricewise either for me

it hasnt been showing up for me for the last 3-4 days as i was pricing some flights :)

I think it was there to prevent price aggregators from scraping their site. I wonder if they have something else in place to prevent it?

Well it hasn't been showing up for anybody for the last 15 hours or so as the website is closed.

But it was there on Thursday.

I really do hope they get rid of it as part of the site upgrade.

I find captchas annoying to the point of irritation, especially when there are other, more user friendly ways of verifying that I am a human rather than a computer.

Someone let me know when its safe to go back to the Ryanair site. I stopped after that annoying captcha started making looking for flights a misery for me.
I refuse to go back til its gone.

It is definitely gone for a few days now, also the Ryanair site is back online.

But Skyscanner has been able to access Ryanair for months if not years. Maybe there's an API that allows selected approved vendors access.

They allow Skyscanner, Dohop and others to scan for flight availability. They pay a small annual fee that goes to charity. The sites that they want to block are those that allow you to make a Ryanair booking and charge you a fee for doing so. Skyscanner etc only show flight availability and they redirect you to Ryanair to make the booking.

I search for flights on Wednesday/Thursday and no captcha for me. Another poster confirmed that too.

Must be getting my days mixed up. Wasn't trying to disagree for the sake of it.

Anyway, we can both agree that the demise of the irritating captcha is a good thing. :)

No worries, and yeah hurray to "no captcha" ;)

Folks, it looks like the dreaded captcha is back with a vengence. Ah well, their loss - I'll be seeking alternative carriers because I just can't abide re-entering bullsH!t over and over and over and over again - just to get a PRICE on a flight.

    Feck them so.

use skyscanner to get an initial indication then so.

Skycanner is permitted by Ryanair as they do not try and act as the middleman and send you straight to Ryanair to perform all the booking on their system.

jesus some people are so lazy. How long does it take to enter it, two seconds? You have to enter them on loads of sites these days.

If it was a once off when you entered their website it wouldn't be so much of a pain. But for most people they check many different dates and if like me different destinations which can lead to entering it about 20 times during a session. And they are purposely hard to read so it is obvious why it is so annoying.

+1 the frequency of entering them and the relative complexity discourages browsing for bargains. In the past I would have ended up booking flights on a whim cos they were cheap - so I guess they're really saving me money in a twisted sort of way. Surely there must be a more user friendly way of ensuring security is maintained. I'll try the skyscanner thing and see if that's the way to go.

Yes it's back, it wouldn't put me off booking a flight once I knew where and when I wanted to fly. But gone are the days of browsing for cheap flights, frankly I couldn't be arsed. Maybe that's the intended idea, another hoop for their victims to jump through.

FWIW I don't use FR much anymore, thankfully, but there's always the odd occasion where flying Ryanair makes financial sense.

again, try skyscanner because they show an overview for your connection for the month and also give hints if theres a nearby destination or startpoint that is cheaper.

Its not always up to the minute correct if a sale is just launched but its mostly a very good indication of when the cheapest flights are to be had

Unfortunately, since the Ryanair website changes of last weekend, Skyscanner
is no longer showing realtime availability of Ryanair fares. I have contacted Skyscanner and they say that there is a problem with the price feeds from Ryanair. They are in contact with Ryanair and hope to have the problem resolved "soon".

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,323 ✭✭✭Savman

Yeah I have Skyscanner problem too, not showing any direct fares for FR.

It is painful alright! I fell in love with skyscanner once I found it but that still isn't working

Good news....Ryanair live pricing restored to Skyscanner.
