Hutchinson tubes - anyone experience

Bought a couple of these in a bit of a rush on the way home this evening, really for spares for the Mt. Leinster in the morning. Just realised now they don't have a threaded outer casing, instead just a smooth (what looks like) brass valve that just slides through the hole in the rim, but is not secured by a locking nut. Looks dodgy, but might suffice as an emergency spare. Any one experience of these?

Yeah, I have one like that. Only an issue if the valve stem is a bit short when you're pumping from flat but a bit of thumb pressure on the outside of the tyre sorts that. Fine thereafter.

You mean the nut most people throw away?
If the nut is what is being relied upon to hold the tube in place, you're doing it wrong :-)
