Thought to share this in case anyone's in the area -

Message from Mallow Animal Rescue via Facebook today:

"We have just had a phone call from a member of the public in the Mallow area, saying that a white van came into their estate, and a man with a dog catcher (a long pole with a loop on the end) tried to pick up 2 dogs from the area and put them into the van. There were other dogs already in the van. When spoken to, he said he was from 'The Dog's Trust' and was picking up n...eglected dogs....the caller said neither of these dogs were neglected, and belonged to people in the area. When he said this to the man, he just said 'OK' and went off.

We contacted the guards, who had a car in the area, but unfortunately, the van was gone when they got there.
Please will everyone keep their eyes open for this, or any van acting suspiciously, and take the registration number and a full description of the van and the people with it, and contact the guards immediately? This is happening all over Cork County.
AND will people PLEASE keep their dogs safely in their houses, unless they are taking them for a walk (on the lead) as letting dogs run loose is putting them into danger of getting stolen.....please share"
