    Hi all,
Just wondering if the following is possible. I have a game installed on my laptop and every time you want to play you have to have the CD in the drive. Is there anyway to transfer the contents of the CD onto the laptop and then have the game directed to look for the contents there rather than from the CD?

just make sure to backup the original files (move or rename them) before applying.

I was thinking you might have an issue with this alright. Apologies.
Does anyone know of any other way to do it, like a registry entry or something? The game is legally bought and installed.

You could create a disc image on your Hard Drive using imgburn:
    http://www.imgburn.com/

And then mount your image in a virtual cd drive using something like Daemon tools Lite:

as far as i'm aware no-cd cracks are legal to use if you own an original copy of the game.

Would that force to game to look for the ISO in the virtual drive? I would imagine that it is locked in the C: drive during the install as that is where it was installed from. I suppose using your suggestion above I could just reinstall the whole thing from the ISO and it would use the virtual drive from then on??

    nope :)
No-CD cracks have legal uses, such as creating backups of legally owned software (a user right by law in many countries) or avoiding the inconvenience of placing a CD or DVD-ROM in the drive every time the software is being used

I've used this method before without any issues. I don't think you would need to re-install TBH...
