So I'm looking at getting an external monitor to use with my macbook. I'm not really up to speed with what I may actually need. Used mostly for editing images. So no video requirements, if that makes a difference.

Was looking at this one. What does everyone think?

I definitely wouldn't be looking at a cheapo-brand of monitor. The quality might be hit-or-miss, and you might find it difficult to generate colour profiles that work, as it might have a lot of difficulty reproducing shades of colour in dark areas or light, and you might find it's color & brightness aren't consistent from one session to another.

The Dell mentioned above is supposed to be pretty good without being outrageous money.

You could look at a LaCie.. although you can't get their old reliable Electron-Blue CRT's anymore. (I don't think anyone has yet made a monitor capable of finer shading in shadows and highlights.. I loved working with the LaCie Blue CRT's back in the day! SO consistent!)

    Good luck to you!

Get the Dell. Looking at it right now, alongside a e120 Acer (non IPS) monitor f the same size and it's an absolute world of difference between the two. Impossible to be disappointed with this monitor for that price :D
