No, only direct Castlebar service is 21 from Busaras, last leaving 20.00 on Sunday.

Dublin Busaras - Ballina is the quickest Mayo service, last leaving 2100 on Sunday but leaves you little time to get from the airport to Busaras and will be too late for connections to Castlebar.

Other Castlebar services are via change at Galway, Athlone or Charlestown.

The train from Heuston is much more direct for Castlebar, but last train 18:30.

Can you fly directly to Ireland West Airport, less than 30 mins from Castlebar?

I don't understand why the local council/an entrepreneur has not started up a pre-bookable minibus service from Knock Airport to Westport via all the main villages/towns (I know this involves high insurance but I'm sure it would be covered by prospective customers). I would think that this could be very popular, because at the moment the taxis have a monopoly or else relations have to take time off work to collect visitors. I have had to pay 50 euros from the airport to Castlebar on many occasions, when my return flight from the UK hasn't cost much more! With flights being drastically reduced to Knock Airport recently, which results in increased air fares, this is no way to encourage tourists or natives from the West to visit. :D

Say what now? There are more flights than ever to Knock in 2012.

Yes, you have a great variety of flights now to and from Europe but not if you are travelling from the south of England to Knock to visit family. Years ago we had a choice of flights from Easyjet, Aer Lingus and Ryanair from Gatwick to Knock - several flights a day. Easyjet and Ryanair no longer fly from Gatwick to Knock so we have one flight a day courtesy of Aer Lingus. Progress?

well topic has gone a little off topic. there are no flights from dublin to knock afaik, def not when id be looking for them. looks like the rail service to westport/castlebar is rubbish. and there is no bus service worth talking about, unless you get bus eireann....and lets face it, they aint worth talking about! maybe people just dont like going to mayo! looks like im going to have to drive. asked a mate for the best route to take. he recommended driving on the motorway to galway and then taking the castlebar road up. still looking at 3.5 hours anyway

if your driving you dont go to Galway to get to Mayo.
Liffey Valley to Castlebar is only around 2 and a half hours.

I don't think the situation regarding multiple daily Gatwick flights a few years ago was ever sustainable to be fair. It was a battle for market share in Ireland that Knock got caught up in and temporarily benefitted from. The loads on the Gatwick route don't suggest the market is there for more flights. Although if a Heathrow flight was ever secured that would allow expansion to the south of England in a more sustainable way.

Did you have a look at Citylink? That goes from Dublin Airport to Galway via Athlone. If driving, the best route to Mayo is via Longford. Lastly, any chance of correct punctuation in your post. Phones do have the facility to do CAPITALS:D.
