    Hi All,

So my wedding day is 6 weeks away at this stage and while I'm really hoping it gets a little warmer (May has been bloody freezing!:() there is nothing I can do about the weather. However, I am having some "what if that happens!!" thoughts. I thought we could all share them :)
    • First off, I'm worried that I'm going to cry......lots. I've been quite emotional about the wedding (in a good way) when I think about it or look at other people's picture and I'm really scared that I'll cry like a baby. How do I make sure that doesn't happen?
    • Second thing I'm worried about is my boyfriend (suppose he'll be my groom when this may happen) standing on the train of my dress and I walk away and it rips!!
So fellow bride and grooms to be what are your / were your things to worry about?

My biggest worry was the crying too...I cry at other people's weddings as soon as the guests stand up and the bride makes her entrance, so i was FULL SURE that i would be in bits when i was that very bride.

But, when i walked in and the music started, i just smiled, i looked at someone in the last seat and i smiled at them, then i looked at a person a few seats up and i smiled at them, i did that until i was up at the top of the aisle...my big mistake was looking at my mother, who was in bits, and i had a bit of a wobbler, but composed myself when i saw my gorgeous hubby beaming at me!
Its the best feeling, focus on faces, smile at them and in no time you will be at the top of the aisle.

    Best of Luck!

Thanks for your reply Silly :) I've been very unfussed by most of the stuff that people generally get fussed over which has been great and made the planning and organising of it all pretty easy and straightforward.
This crying business and my dress being stood on while I'm up on the alter has now surfaced in my head and won't go away.
Every time I think of seeing my fiance at the top of the aisle waiting for me to get there I tear up :o:eek: The same thing happens when I think of having to say the vows! I just know they wouldn't be those lovely black and white movie graceful tears but big red ugly ones.

I did an internet search for tips on stopping tears and apparently if you place your tongue firmly to the roof of your mouth it stops the tears. Must try that the next time.
Think I'll have to have a "no fly" zone around the dress until I tie the train up and under. :D

one tip about tieing up the dress too. Make sure one of your bridemaids has some big safety pins, like the old nappy pins.
I was told my train would not fall down, but it did and one of my guests had a nappy pin with her, so it was handy to tie up the dress with.

Just breathe and smile and you should be ok. Would be no harm to have your mum or a bridesmaid hold a tissue just in case :) It's an emotional day so don't worry if you cry a bit. I thought I would but when I walked down the aisle I just couldn't stop smiling. When I got to the top the husbag was bawling his eyes out and even that didn't set me off.

Your dress should have a ribbon under the train that you can carry on your wrist and you can bustle if you need to but I am sure your groom will be careful.

We'll get the child of Prague statues out for you :D Ultimately when the day comes a bit of rain is not going to stop you. Enjoy every minute of these last weeks. It goes too quick.

I find it best to distract myself when I feel like crying. Like thinking about what you did yesterday, picturing your favourite comedy or something... it stops the emotions attached to your environment.
Though I dunno how distracted you'll wanna be on your wedding day LOL maybe practice that in the meantime, so that you don't forget your vows while you're busy "thinking about other things".
My worry is the weather. Yes, I know I can't do anything about it, but I am really picturing the day outside and if it rains we'll have to do the ceremony indoors - not as exciting for me.

my biggest fear was that the band would be rubbish. i hadnt heard them and wasnt too impressed with the song list.

they were absolutely amazing, 5 weeks later people are still talking about them and they have receive two more wedding books from people at our wedding :D

If you are having children at your wedding, I would be more worried about them standing on your train. The kids at my wedding were so excited (their first wedding) at seeing the bride that they were charging for me at every second, que plenty of trodding on the train. Hubby also stood on it a few times, it will happen but as long as you walk slowly, it won't rip because you will notice someone is standing on it before you move off.

I'm a total worrier. I'm not getting married for 15 months and already worrying about tears and the dress being stepped on/me tripping over it while moving about on the alter! Also worried we will knock over the cake on our entrance to the reception room! Stupid i know but we have to pass it by it'll be on a separate stage that we'll have to walk over. Hope all goes well for you on the day, you're so lucky it's so soon!!!

If you are worried about people standing on oyur train, then get one that can be pinned up, or has a loop to go ver your wrist.
Of go for a dress with now train at all!
That's what I did 'cos I didn't want the hassle of one, I got a dress that sat just off the ground so no worries about anyone standing on it.
You will have enough going on the day of you wedding to be pulling and tugging at a dress IMO.

Can't help you on the crying part though, I cry at everything!! Wish I had some tips for that on my day. I think it was the enormity (sic) of the day. But once the Church cermony was over I was grand then as the pressure was off.

Sorry - just seen that your wedding is 6 weeks away - in that case if you are worried about the dress, see if a seamstress can create a loop for you to tie up the train or to strap over the wrist (which I think looks nicer).

All the best for the day!
