I'm just looking at the racing on channel 4 and seen the on course bookmakers are on offering 1/6 the odds for ew betting  Why would anybody use them? Bet365 are 1/4 the odds i can't believe they get away with this.

I've seen 1/8 the odds in races with the dead 8 runners.

Very rare to see 1/4 the odds on course even in a million runner handicap.

SPs are an absolute disgrace too.

Where have ye seen all these crazy odds? I've been to most tracks in Ireland numerous times and have never seen anything worse than 1/5

    3.05 Newbury. Thomas Chippendale

Channel 4 reported 9/4 on the show, was 3.8 on Betfair. Here was me thinking that the shows are pretty awful.

Low & behold the SP somehow turns out to be 2/1. Absolute day light robbery FFS

    3.40 Newbury: Frankel

Opened 3/10 in course. Returned 2/7

Drifted from 1.3 to 1.35 on Betfair......

Think this needs to be brought up again....

Before the Queen Anne on Tuesday I posted this:
Bookies are really running scared of the each way horses versus Frankel. 11/2 Excelebration. He's 14.5 on Betfair

    Then posted this:
He'll surely be a bit bigger on course. Off course firm will be left having to pay 1/4 the odds ew. I've a bloody meeting 2-3 so can't bet on the show prices

Despite his betfair SP being 18 Excelebration was somehow returned with a 5/1 industry SP. Now I know my first post states the bookies were running scared ew but a lot if not most on course firms will be win only or 1/6 or 1/7 the odds in a race like this. Hence the 5/1 SP is indicative of off course firms (and their respective on course reps) manipulating SP returns. I'm not sure of any market where the regulators would allow such blatant mnipulation, but wasn't it the case hat there was a lobby that any SP would have to take into account at least 2 of the "big 4" on course reps when returning an SP

What's that I hear? The industry newspaper the Racingpost will highlight such injustice to the ordinary punter? Not a bit of it. As I discussed with another regular poster on Facebook today their Queen Anne preview read as an ad for Betfred betting 7/2 Frankel not to win. He was 1.17 to lay on Betfair at the time FFS

The game is being killed by those in charge by surrendering to the bookmakers and the only response is to hand RFC a bucket of cash to throw away enticing drunks to the summer flat meetings at the expense of the regular race goer and actual racing enthusiast

Enjoy racing in it's current guise, if these trends continue it won't last long

More of the same here in the Golden Jubilee....

Betting to 112% on the front 3 alone. 1/6 Black Caviar when she's 1/4 on Betfair

and since this they've shortened Moonlight Cloud to 5/1 from 11/2 and Society Rock from 9/1 into 8/1

ATR has just said they're taking liberties, understatement of the year

Have to agree with the sentiment. Ascot has been very biased against the punter. Fields splitting into 3 groups and the bookies prices are appalling

They'll use the excuse that the place terms are the reason but:

    1. that's not the case with Black Caviar. 1/6 industry SP v Betfair SP of 1.27
    2. Most on course firms will bet win only or something daft like 1/7 the odds each way

Basically, IMO, the on course firms are acting as a cartel and colluding with off course firms to keep SPs down. Remember not all on course firms have off course operations

Why not lash 1/5 Black Caviar up, take on all comers and still be able to back it back at 1.26+ on the exchanges.

It's not just Ascot, happens every day of every week, but some of the examples this week have been as bad as I've ever seen

I was at Epsom the day High Chapparal won the Derby. The best price you could get from any on-course bookie was 2/1, and some were going 7/4. So I was quite surprised to see him returned 7/2 official sp. You got better than 4/1 on the tote. Best to back online if possible.

More of the same today at York

See this post and this one

There is absolutely no excuse for that Frankel SP with almost infinite liquidity on Betfair
