They all traffic shape to some extent but only O2 and (possibly) Meteor offer routable IPs. The public APNs are pretty unsuitable if you need to host a resource on cellular.

Thanks for that , do you know if Skype , Viber etc work with O2

Oh. They all work pretty hard to control voice services over their data networks. You might find one that works but no guarantee that it will stay that way.

You might be best off with a VPN service to try to protect your traffic from shaping. It'll still be touch and go though - OpCos spend a huge amount on content classification systems to identify revenue lost to VoIP.

Both Skype and Vib have worked for me in the past on O2 and VF but I use a static iP service now so I'm outside whatever controls they apply.

How are you getting a static ip on mobile midband? Unless are you using a private APN?

I operate a private APN service across a few cellular carriers that provides private static IPs. These private IP VLANs can then be attached to a network (making the midband devices just another subnet) or broken out to the Internet via a NAT. These days it's often broken out via EC2.

It's mostly for biggish CCTV, alarm deployments etc. with a bit of SCADA and 3G WAN thrown in for good measure. These types of applications need to be exempted from the carrier grade NAT and other 'one size fits all' shaping that happens on the public APN.

Doubt any of this helps you - sorry!
