Just posting to let everyone know about the Best of 2012 thread in A/R/T Events. The thread is for listing your PBs in various distances over the year - if you run a 5k you put up your time and where you ran (and a report/comment if you like), if you run a better time later in the year you put that in instead.

There is no qualifying mark for entering your times on the table. If you run 5 miles in 25 minutes, 35, 45, or 55... it doesn't matter, you can put your time up. Yes, maybe that means you'll be in last place. But you put in a time that you think is pretty bad, someone else might put in a time that's slightly better - and now you have a target for your next race. As well as racing to improve your time, you'll be racing to move up the table.

So give it a go, enter your race times from this year. The tables autosort, so you just need to enter a new row with your time, don't worry about putting it in the right place. You only enter one time per distance - it's a PB table, not a record of all races you ran.

I spotted that alright but I was waiting for a half respectable PB before entering :p

I waited for a time I was happy with myself before adding my first entry a couple of years ago - but that was a 39.59 5 mile that would be way off the bottom this year :)

The thread has become a bit of an eyesore with tables upon tables appearing. How about something similar to the race calendar thread where if anybody adds a time to the table the mods update this to the original post, delete the table from the new post and just leave any additional comment made by the poster?

More work for the mods :p

I could delete all but the most recent post from the thread, but that means you'd only get to see the most recent comments too. Maybe instead of adding comments, people could link their entry to post in their log or the race report thread?

If you take out the comments then you are just left with a table of numbers. It should be a discussion board, now your talking etc.

Ha, speaking of work for mods, what about the logistical nightmare that is a publicly accessible spreadsheet?! :p
