What do you think is the best martial arts combo to learn?
    for self defense?

    Muay Thai & BJJ?
    Wrestling & Kickboxing?
    Karate & Judo?

I believe the very best combo is Boxing/Judo/BJJ
This way you're covered in every aspect of fighting,

    Stand up (Boxing)
    Grappling and throws (Judo)
    Ground (BJJ)

Can you think of a better combo?

Traditional Jiu-Jitsu covers all three. Including the nasty element, like biting, eye gouging, low blows etc...

In fairness, unless you've actually studied all the arts you've discarded or selected as being the best then its all just guesswork and the debate can only really be a style vs style popularity discussion.

If you're training stand up then you're neglecting groundwork and vice versa. However if you split your training then the best you can hope for is to be excellent at neither, just ok at both and even then you'd be neglecting the grey area in between standing and ground.

IMO, MMA has had a lot of time, money and research put into being the best combo of everything. If I wanted to be a good all rounder I wouldn't combine two or more arts to try and find the best combo I would just train MMA.

If you are talking self defence in terms of street violence...where it might be one or multiple attackers with one or more wielding a knife, stick or some form of weapon (such as broken bottle, syringe etc) then you will need specialist training in such methods.
I believe the very best combo is Boxing/Judo/BJJ

    Stand up (Boxing)
    Grappling and throws (Judo)
    Ground (BJJ)

Do any of these teach you how to deal with multiple armed attackers?
This is the question you need to ask yourself before training in any form of martial art for self defence purposes.

I never said it was better or anything, I just said that it covers all that the OP wanted and a little more, like some dirty tactics and weapons training... which when it comes to self-defence that for me has to be one of the best all-rounders...

Just my opinion, I'm sure with a bit of dedication and hard work, all of the above will benefit you in a self-defence situation.

In a way your right-you should also ask the instructor of your new art will you be able to fend off hoards of slash hook waving pikeys. If he says yes, the chances are he's talking out of his hole and you should steer clear.

No martial art will be able to teach you to 'deal' with multiple armed attackers. They might be able to sketch over some ideas and strategy, but that’s about it. There are far too many variables to cover, encounters where your outnumbered are never likely to go well.

A combination of karate and gymnastics. AKA gymkata
